Dreaming

As well as being a warrior, a confident and a great comfort to those around me I am also one of lifes deep thinkers and this week I have been putting my enquiring mind to dreams, or more specifically my sister, Guiness's dreams.

Whilst Guinny dreams all night, every night I have established that her dreams fall into 4 main categories.

The first is what I like to refer to as 'Artic Wind.' This one produces a slightly wheezy high pitched sound that when I lay in bed and listen, makes me feel like I am in an artic research station which the biting snowy wind swirling outside in the darkness. I love this one the most as there is nothing nicer than being cosy indoors whilst outside it is bleak.

Next on the list is what I refer to as The Rumble. A slow rhythmic rumble, all warm and relaxed and this remains one of my favourite sounds to fall asleep too. It's like being enveloped in a soft fleece blanket of sound.

After this it all gets a bit odd as she sometimes does The Gallop. All four feet can be going at the same time but with no barks, woofs or snorts. Its a bit disconcerting and gets seriously weird when one or more of her feet are close enough to the skirting board for her nails to start drumming out super fast morse code. I have tried, on occasion, to read the morse code but gave up after I managed, following over an hour of total focus, to establish that she had tapped out 'hairy jelly juniper boooo' as I've got no room in my life for that kind of gibberish.

Finally we get the most funny and slightly scary dreams which I like to call Fight or Flight where Guinny goes all rabid zombie dog. This one contains it all, it is basically the Uber-dream, if you will. We get snarls, whimpers, rapid leg movement, snarling, lip curling, the full Monty. I like to think that in these dreams she is protecting me from all sorts of fearsome beasts, Mega crocodiles, mutant hyenas, alien invaders but she is not blessed with the same warrior blood as myself so it might simply be threatening ant or an overly aggressive daffodil.

My dreams by comparison are simple pleasures as they are the dreams of a dog who is content with his world and who knows he is surrounded by love.
