Surviving lockdown with Geoff

Updated: Mar 19, 2022

I'll not lie. I've had a good lockdown. Lots of walks, the family around a lot and people always about to open the back door so I can deal with those bloody pigeons and pit my wits against the evil Thanos. However I am nothing if not sensitive to the needs of others and clearly some people have struggled with the restrictions so here is my 5 point plan for surviving lockdown.

- Get Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sky. Seriously just do it. You're quids in as the pubs and restaurants are off limits so indulge in some binge TV. I watch a film most nights and am quite partial to a good box set. Am on the last series of Vikings which I have to say is really rather good. Not a big fan of Ivor though. Just saying, and there is a lack of dogs in staring roles but you cant have everything.

- Keep in contact on Zoom with friends and family. OK its not as good as face to face and you can't sniff a bottom on Zoom but needs must. I like nothing better than to connect on line but...and this is an important but...make an effort with your appearance. Nothing worse than connecting on line and seeing a bad case of bed-head and pyjamas. Standards cost nothing.

- Learn to sleep. I have worked hard on this and can actually sleep anytime, any place. Its a gift but you can learn this.

- Set yourself some targets to remain motivated. I have made a commitment to keep the garden pigeon free which is going quite well. It's important to have a goal in your life.

- Involve your family in games to help them deal with lockdown. I like to play hide and seek with my family. I squeeze into impossibly small places and fall asleep and then my family get their exercise looking for me for an hour or so. Its great fun and I know they appreciate it even though they pretend they don't. .

We can get through this. Stay focused, stay positive, kill the pigeons.
